ABOUT
THE MITCHELL GROUP STORY
Who is the Mitchell group?
The Mitchell Group has historic roots beginning in 1962 with Mitchell Construction. Over time as the company has grown in size and scale, we’ve established other companies underneath The Mitchell Group brand. Read more about The Mitchell Group’s history below.
In the '70s, brothers Jeff and Steve Mitchell took over from their father and shifted the company's business endeavors. The company began focusing on pre-engineered metal buildings and small residential construction while serving a core group of customers and clients and transitioned the company to general contracting.
The formal incorporation of Mitchell Construction Co., Inc. occurred in October of 1989 with Jeff Mitchell appointed President, and Steve Mitchell appointed VP, Secretary, and Treasurer. Market uncertainty lead Mitchell Construction to reevaluate its business model, eliminate residential building, and focus solely on commercial construction.
Brian and Brady, Jeff’s sons, returned to Waco and became more intimately involved with the company. Another downturn for the economy in 2008 and 2009 forced a turning point in the company's internal philosophy and reimagining of the company's future. Under their leadership, Mitchell Construction modified their prospecting strategies for pursuing new customers and expand its business endeavors.
Bremond Firestation was the first project awarded to Mitchell due to the new prospecting philosophy and set the trajectory for where Brian and Brady wanted to go. With this turning point in the company's internal philosophy, Mitchell now went out and tried to acquire work instead of waiting for it to come to them. The brothers saw an opportunity to grow and broaden its demographic service areas instead of remaining local.
Mitchell brought an assortment of sales verticals in-house and began self-performing concrete work, dirt work, steel erection and fabrication, miscellaneous framing, and carpentry projects.
The Mitchell Business group known as The Mitchell Group was formed and parted ways with outside partners. In an effort to reflect the company's commitment to its customers' on-going facility service needs, the Mitchell Group created Bond Facility Services, LLC. The Mitchell Group also created Buffalo Industrial Services.

Our CORE values
Our Core Values are at the heart of everything we do with The Mitchell Group. We strive daily to embody each of these on our job sites and in our corporate offices. These values are how we measure ourselves and the quality of our team members. If we aren’t safe, transparent, acting with integrity, adapting, building relationships, or balancing fun with flexibility – we’re not doing what we’ve set out to do.
Safety
Zero Accidents is Achievable: We reinforce this belief by working to continuously improve our safety culture. Operating with zero incidents is essential to the success and growth of our company, and is the hallmark of The Mitchell Group.
TRANSPARENCY
Operate with Transparency: We embody this value by communicating internally and externally with unwavering candor, honesty, and respect. We pride ourselves on providing complete visibility into the successes, and sometimes failures, of our business as we grow and evolve. This transparency is an integral part of our culture as we collaborate and work towards our clients’ and our company’s common goals.
INTEGRITY
Act with Integrity: We’re honest, transparent, and committed to doing what’s best for our customers and our company. We hire incredible people, and we empower our team members to collaborate and make common sense decisions that benefit all stakeholders. In doing so, we minimize surprises and maximize the quality of our work. We will always strive to be empathetic to all project perspectives.
ADAPTATION
We Refuse to Settle and Choose to Embrace Change: We’re constantly developing, collaborating, and improving to make sure we’re delivering the best experience and product for our customers. There’s always an opportunity to do better. We seek out, embrace, and get (un)comfortable in knowing that if we settle – we’re falling behind, and we believe there’s always an opportunity to do better.
RELATIONSHIPS
Build Relationships while Delivering Results: The connection to our customers, partners, and each other is what drives our success. Relationships deliver results because we can’t do our jobs without each other. When a person goes above and beyond in this area, they own their impact on our business and our partners’ success. We’re all about providing great service to our customers, to our communities, and to each other.
BALANCE
Fun and Flexibility: We revel in our work while empowering our employees in a work environment that is conducive to creating the optimal work/life balance.
